BTW, if you are having a hard time getting back on Fast-5, I found a neat trick. In the morning, I take a teaspoon of turmeric (the spice) mixed with a glass of water, and eat a dill pickle (zero calories). For some reason this makes my stomach feel very content for the rest of the day. If you just mix turmeric in water and drink it in cold water, it has very little taste, and it is said to have very good effects on the body, which is originally why I started experimenting with it.
Taking the dill pickle and turmeric also allows me to take my "morning vitamins" and pills etc. without stomach upset, which is one of the issues doing Fast-5.

Some people here have done that, with success. My own take is that people do better when they eat "enough" protein, and lots of vegetables and fruits. The starch and sugar are sort of optional (esp. starches like donuts and bread!). The polysaccharides that are in vegetables though, help feed your gut tissues, prevent colon cancer, and keep you full for a longer time. There are polys in sweet potatoes and carrots and all those "starchy" vegies too.Our meals usually consist of a big pile of vegies with some poultry or fish (we've just gravitated that way: we do beef sometimes too). Usually in a stir-fry type thing. I generally serve rice with the meal too, or potatoes, but it's a lot smaller part of our plate than it used to be.--On Sun, Sep 4, 2011 at 9:59 AM, klawliss <karen@vitalcard.net> wrote:
Hello group - I'm back after a long hiatus. I've done many diets and have only felt most comfortable with Fast Five. And that's why I'm smartening up again and making this my way of life. I'm wondering if anyone has done low carb with fast five? I know some will say - Why bother? You don't need to limit. I know - but I'm hoping to kick start things and break a sugar need as well.
Thanks
Karen
