I agree about the sense of smell. I'm WAY MORE picky about stuff than I used to be.
For tea, what works for me right now is fresh leaves, that have been frozen. I drink some "regular" tea with my meal, but avoid it otherwise, since it was giving me problems (tannins, probably).
So now I have:
- Neem leaves (from Neemtreefarms.com)
- Lemon Verbena (from one plant I grew)
- Scented Geraniums (I read about them in a book and bought 4 plants, cheaply. They are pretty awesome. They are NOT the same species as "geraniums", not even related).
I just freeze the leaves in baggies, and take a pinch out and crush it, for one cup. It is *awesome*. I seriously don't like "herb teas" and don't drink them. But the fresh version has all kinds of subnotes and flavors that just don't exist in the dried version. Kinda like the difference between a really expensive nice wine, and cooked grape juice.
I have no idea what, if any, health properties these have. They just taste good.
BTW I have mint and chamomile too, which my family really likes (but I don't). All of them are very easy to grow. I grew them in plastic buckets with the Global Buckets type subirrigation system, which means they would grow fine on the average apartment balcony. One bucket will grow enough "herb" to make many month's worth of tea.

Have you tried the Chai tea in a bag? Also Good Earth Original, a similar flavor. Both have cinnamon, which imparts a destinct sweet taste, with no bitter aftertaste. After the one cup of java at 430 am, I try all sorts of teas, some out of the "grab jar" so I don't know what they are. After a while, ya don;t miss the sweetening at all.
Does anyone else find that their sense of smell and taste are much more acute with continued Fast 5?
