I discussed changing to the generic version of Tegratol XR with my neuro and what he thought. His explanation to me was with the
generics it can be difficult for him to maintain levels, (I am a bit level sensitive). When a pharmacy get their stock of generic
medication, there is no guarantee where they might get their supply. It all depends on who gives them the best price. This becomes
even more of a problem when you are getting the medication 90 days at a time. Because of this he requires that I take the branded
medication.
Another problem that I've run into is that for me to change medication, I am not able to drive for 6 months (Texas State Law). As I
am currently unemployed, this is not an option as I need to be able to drive to be able to get to job interviews.

I take regular Lamictal and because of the monthly cost, I was
wondering how you might have done if you switched to the genetic
of this drug. I know a lot of doctors do not recommend this change
especially since I've been on this for ages. I almost think we
should all have stock in the drug market! Next July will be my
50th year of taking many different drugs for epilepsy. About 12
years ago, I had left temporal surgery, and it stopped all seizures
during the day, however I get them when asleep and I am still on
the drugs. If by chance you made the change to genetic of your
