[epilepsy] Re:What to do?

Hi Carolyn,

I would call your doctor for his or her advice on this, but this is what our doctor told us to do if Megan missed a dose. She takes pills twice a day. She was told to take a missed dose as soon as you realized you have missed it, unless your next dose is due within a couple of hours. If you have already taken a dose when you discover that you missed an earlier dose, skip that earlier dose.

Keep in mind that some anti-seizure drugs stay in the body a relatively long time, while others are much more short-lived in the body. If, for example, the meds you take are short acting ones, your doctor may advise you differently than if you are on a drug that builds up slowly and stays in the bloodstream longer.

Take care,
Tammy

Do you use a seven day pill case, or one that carries a full days doses with you? They make some pretty cool pill boxes that have removable days that you can stick in your purse, with compartments for three or four doses for each day. Megan is out and about a lot, so she carries her pill case in her purse. That way, she never has the problem of realizing she forgot her pills halfway through the day when they are sitting somewhere at home.
