Thanks Scott! I have some questions as I am on other lists for families with autistic spectrum kids/ young adults. Some are 'officially' diagnosed and some aren't. Some have applied for SSI and some haven't.
Does the company only work with people who are on SSI? Can someone with a disability but not working with SSI get work through NTI? What disabilities can they find work for and are there some that they can't accommodate? Do they only find full time work? Is part time an option?
My one son is on SSI. He has had a part time job at a non-profit that only employs disabled people. He has been working there for a few years. I send his work information to SSI each month. He isn't enrolled in Ticket to Work and plans to stay at this placement. Does SSI allow full time at places like this? He hasn't been offered it but I wondered.
I greatly appreciate any information you can give me on this or any issues for SSI, Ticket to Work, or working while on SSI.
