[epilepsy] Transportation options???

 

Hi,
My name is Meghan and I've been a silent member for a few years now. But my life has come to a breaking point in which my epilepsy has a very real and very paralyzing hand in. In addition to my epilepsy, I also have multiple anxiety disorders that all seem to be based in transportation. All my life I've lived without the ability to have my own independent means of transportation. The breaking point I find myself at now, @ the age of 35 is the desperate need for this. Online

I've discovered Electric mopeds that are "bike lane legal", only go 30-35mph, and only 60 miles on one charge. But they recharge in around 3hrs, and require no gas or drivers license to drive. Brand new, the cost around $1,500 - $2,000, and some factories take payments of under $100 monthly.

This would be my salvation, except that I live in the Pacific Northwest, were rain, wind and cold are a very big part of our yearly climate. Has anyone out there heard of other options that are open to epileptics that cannot have a drivers license? Preferably something with a roof or some sort and electric instead of gas powered. I'm on SSI and cannot afford the high prices of gas. I have thought about potentially asking around for Electric golf carts. They often have not only roofs, but plastic zippered coverings to keep the rain and wind from all sides. Plus room for a passenger, and back rack for groceries or anything else you may need to carry with you.

PLEASE SOMEONE GET BACK TO ME ABOUT THIS!?! Anything that you know, have heard, or can send me in a direction to finally get my freedom back will deserve my eternal gratitude! This issue is such a long and painful story, I don't want to burden the group with it. But I've spent the last 14yrs too afraid to leave my home, locked in this stagnant exsistence. I don't want to sound dramatic, but anything anyone can do to help me find my way out, will literally have saved my life.
