Hi Susan,

As long as you have the OK to drive from your Dr. that is what counts. Each state has different laws concerning how long you must be seizure free to drive. If you have epilepsy and are driving with the OK from both your Dr. and driving laws of the state you live in, and an accident accures, epilepsy can't be held against you.

Also, if you have only nocturnal seizures (night seizures), some people do have drivers licenses for day time driving only. On their license, it's marked concerning when they can drive.

Over the years I've spoken countless times with people who had car accidents who had seizures under control, had the OK to drive from Their Dr. but a seizure happened to acurre and then again had to give up driving again. People just have to understand their is no cure for epilepsy. We do our best to obey driving laws, but, if a seizure accures, we then stop driving for a peried of time.

You can always ask your Dr. About it if you like so you hear it from a dr. Take care, keep a smile on your face!

Steve
