Hey Samdgood
Yep. Almost confused myself with what I wrote!
I was trying to convey to Cheryl that the premise of Fast 5 is the not eating for 19 continuous hours and therefore eating some tie within in a window of 5-10pm allows the time one is sleeping to add up to 'Fast' time. These 19 hours 'train' your body that nothing is coming into your digestive system and to get busy using fat your body has previously stored.
Agree that going to bed on a full stomach is not great for me either but once I am into the swing of this method, I find I have eaten all I want around 7-8pm and simply remind myself to put the wine glass down by 10pm!
I actually love the benefit of not thinking about food after about the first 6-7 days. And not to look at the scales - other than maybe once a week. It really is not about weight in the early days; I find my clothes fit & feel better as the pounds slip off. As a creature of habit, once I had my routine, meeting up for lunch was not a trial either.
Best of luck to all
This does work for a lot of folks.
Just keep an eye on that 'Lizard brain' of ours which wants us to eat lots of everything whenever we are faced with food!
good tip about the peppermint tea, btw

I am a little confused by what pepper howard said about the time of the window " more results oriented that we eat between 5pm to 10pm is so when one sleeps, one is adding the snooze time - typically from 11pm 'til 6, 7 or 8am - or roughly 7-8ish hours of 'easy time' in that it's not hard to not eat when you are sleeping!"
confused because either window (11am to 4pm or 5pm to 10pm) includes the time we sleep. there are two reasons I prefer the earlier time which still gives me 19 hours of fasting.
1. I don't have to wait all day from the time I get up to break my fast.
2. I hate to go to bed with a full stomach.
I think it's easier to not eat in the evening after my window closes than it is to wait until 5pm to eat. as I have said before, it is different for everyone. a lot of people have 2 good reasons for the later window.
1. they are busy during the day which I am not. and/or
2. they find it hard to say no to eating in the evenings. also, many people have to prepare dinner for the family at that time.
but for single people like me who don't have a job, the earlier window works great. if I'm watching tv in the evening and get a craving, I will have a cup of peppermint tea. peppermint kills the appetite and it's a treat for me.
