Hi Robert
I don't know, I will check with my clinic before I start
changing. I can only take what they give me.
Regards
Adrien

Adrian,
As you are changing to ordinary Tegretol, you may find you
need to take smaller doses more often for the same total
dose, in order to even out the dose throughout the day. The
slow release version does this for you and is not called
Tegretol Retard any longer, but Tegretol Prolonged Release
(I take these and other meds too). Is there a reason why you
can't have the latter?
Robert

Subject: [epilepsy] changing brands of tegretol
Hi
Now I have moved back to live in the uk, I am having to
change my brand of tegretol from the real tegretol to
different brands, firstly for me this is going to be complex
as I am used to having 2 400 mg tablets a day, a 200 mg and
half a 200 mg, i.e. 600 mg in the morning and 500 mg at
night. I have just said how I have done it up to now but now
they are giving me all round tablets, the 200 mg are so
small I cannot cut them in half, so I need 100 mg tablets
too. This may be a bit tricky for me. Havin taken the real
tegretol for so long, am I going to have or experience any
difference in the way the tegretol works with me? Will there
be any side affects?
Regards
