I was similarly annoyed when a neurologist said (after seeing me have a seizure on video telemetry) that whilst the EEG recorded epileptic activity when I was not seizing, but not whilst I was in the seizure. He suggested it might have been an 'emotional episode'. Well all I was doing was eating my breakfast in bed, in the hospital whilst wired up and viewed for telemetry. As I recall I was munching into some toast!
Anyway I challenged him about this when he told me (this was some hours afterwards and I'd had all the wired taken off). He said that he didn't doubt I also was having having epileptic seizures as well. Of course I do - AEDs have worked on me and he knew that. Then there was some suggestion that the wires might not have recorded properly in the violence of the episode.
