Steve,
Thank you for your response. Hoping that your left femoral lobectomy was successful :)
I actually have a daughter with a seizure daughter who has seen by both Dr. Michael Smith and Dr. Andres Kanner at Rush. It is so interesting the chemistry between parents/patients and the doctors. I liked Dr. Smith enough but saw him at a time when we were thinking of transferring from pediatric care at Children's to adult care at Rush. Fortunately, Dr. Nordli agreed to see Ainsley for a few more years so we only saw Dr. Smith once. Not sure I'd go back to him. As for Dr. Kanner, my daughter saw him 4 times after a referral from Dr. Nordli when it was time to transition to adult care. I liked Dr. Kanner very much at the first visit, but it was downhill from there. The more complicated my daughter's care became, the less interested he seemed in helping her. For now, my daughter sees Dr. Sucholeicki at Central DuPage Hospital. He is working out just fine for us right now.
I'm not sure which doctor(s) my friend took her daughter to see when they were considering brain surgery over 10 years ago. I think she had the surgery at UIC, but I am not positive. Sadly, my friend's daughter (20 years old) was seizure free for the 9 years following brain surgery, and only recently had two seizures :(
Good luck to us all in the war on seizures!

Rush Hospital regularly does surgeries concerning epilepsy. They would be the place to go. Most definitely I would suggest your friend go there and see the epileptologist Dr. Andres Kanner, he specializes in surgery. He isn't a surgeon, he determines by evaluating tests people looking into surgery for epilepsy if they are candidates or not. He travels the world doing lectures, has written books also concerning epilepsy. Look his name up on the Internet. All the epileptologists there have patients who have been in your daughters shoes.

I am asking on behalf of a friend of mine who's 20 year old daughter had brain surgery 9 years ago, and was seizure free until recently :( Surgery/followup was performed in Wisconsin. My friend (and daughter) would like to see a neurologist located a little closer to home (Naperville) as well as to get a fresh opinion on seizure treatment.
