Hi folks
Am forwarding this bcs I see no contentious verbiage in my earlier email and I wished to insure Sam and Cheryl got my message!
btw My top bug-bear is that I love one real coffee...in the morning...and with semi-skim milk.
I believe this - the addition of just a glug of milk - has slowed my rate of weight loss to ounces instead of pounds as I find it very easy to adhere to only eating between 5-10pm. Still, this works out to the suggested loss of about one pound a week; over the last 4 weeks, I've lost 4 lbs.
Not dramatic but, for me, sustainable...and without shopping for a load of stuff I might not normally eat, counting calories, making some different meal every day, weighing food, perhaps going to a weighing-in type meeting and paying a good deal of money for the meetings and supporting books etc etc etc.
Also - on how to break your fast -
I make and eat cholesterol-fighting oatmeal, banana and walnut muffins (for the last 16 years; yes they work for me) and find if I eat one at 5pm I'm satisfied and can go onto prepare a regular meal in order to eat dinner around 730. So try an oatmeal break of some sort. Maybe a granola type bar?
That slow-release oat is satisfying and might help you too.
Good luck to all!
If this works for you, wonderful.
If it seems impossible, give it a month.
And when you feel hungry (usually around 3pm for me) ...imagine it's a sign your body is just dispatching your accumulated fatty deposits!
And that is a very good feeling indeed.
And Sam: very impressive weight loss there. How long have you been Fast 5-ing?
Pepper.

Sam Perfectly said to Cheryl. Same course of events I found to be true. Now It's just a way I live...and I suspect many others do too.
Think bcs it is an unusual approach for the way we live our lives now... It does take some consideration and internalising about what Burt sez. bonne chance to all!

hey pepper! thanks for clearing that up! you are right about the science behind fast five. I thought you were saying the later window works better so I kind of feel silly for going on and on about the time of the window except maybe it will help some other people to know it's ok to choose a window that fits with your lifestyle.
Cheryl, don't give up if you don't see a big weight loss right away. when I first started I ate a lot during my window and noticed the longer I stayed on fast five the easier it is and the less I ate. I have only lost 1lb per week but it adds up. before fast five I lost 0 lb in 10 years. my weight would go up and back down but I couldn't get under 194. now I weigh 168 and still losing!
