[epilepsy] Re: Intro: Toddler with Early Onset Absence Seizures

EOAS is definitely a thing. It's being researched and you can find a number of studies concerning EOAS on PubMed and elsewhere on the internet. The title of one caught my attention: Early onset absence epilepsy: 1 in 10 cases is caused by GLUT1 deficiency.

I don't know how deep you want to get, but MedMerits has information on differential diagnosis of childhood absence epilepsy, including early onset absence seizures and GLUT1 deficiency. They consider early onset a few months to 4 years.

My suggestion would be to take your daughter to a pediatric neurologist at a Level 3 or 4 epilepsy center. There is a locator here:

You just type in your zip code, and it will list Level 3 and 4 centers in your area. This site also has a document explaining all kinds of guidelines on epilepsy centers, if you are interested in reading it.  <http://www.naec-epilepsy.org/join/documents/FinalGuidelines.pdf>

Best of luck with your daughter. From what I have heard, the majority of children with absence seizures outgrow them, and I have a cousin who did just that.
