Kudos for you both! It's neat you support each other like that.
On tea, what I've found is that "real" tea doesn't work well on an empty stomach. However, for the first time ever, I've started appreciating other kinds of teas. One of my favorites is just hot water over half a lime. Or frozen pieces of a fruit called "Buddha's Fingers" (weird name, weird fruit: awesome taste). Neem leaves. Scented geraniums (frozen) that I grew in my garden. A spoonful of Hershey's Special Cocoa. I invested in a hot-shot type water dispenser, which makes tea easy. I think my body likes hot liquids in general, and it keeps me from over-doing coffee.

Today jumping in to see how I do, skipped breakfast which was not hard for me, usually would have a protein shake, still had my coffee with a little unsweetened almond milk, only about 9 calories but it didnt taste as good as my usual creamer so I didnt drink it all, made some vanilla bean tea instead, no creamer needed. Got grumbly in the stomach by about 1:00pm so I had some more hot tea with stevia. also drinking lots of water, the grumblys got better and now have 1 more hour until my window at 5pm.... not bad for my first day. I also sucked on a sugar free hard candy for a minute then spit it out and also chewed a piece of sf gum for about a min, that helped, I know I wont need these in the future. Wish I liked tea more, it's so bitter even with non cal sweetener but I will get used to it. My mom is also starting this today, we have talked on the phone a few times to give support. She has had cancer 3 times in the past and hoping fast 5 will help it to NEVER come back.
