RE: [epilepsy] Keppra and vision problems

 

Oh yes vision problems are real! My daughter with limited speech abilities kept complaining of "seeing scary" for several months. She would talk of seeing fire and black spots and worms.  Her Neuro said she was just fixating / perseverating on something like she used to about cars and lady bugs and recommended psychiatric counseling and drugs. I refused. We knew better and finally had a Neurological optometrist ( not a regular optometrist) look at her eyes. She was in fact diagnose with "Vitreal Synerisis. " which is a crystalizing of the jelly like substance in the eye and in advanced stages does reflect light off the crystals like a prism. Hence her seeing  fire flashes of light. Also in an advanced state the simple little "Floaters" we all get occasionaly become large and eleongated explaining why our child talked of seeing black worms.  NO she was making this up and she was not crazy and thank God we did not medicate for such! We got her off Zonegram and the problem slowly went away within a few weeks.

Vision problems aren't listed as a side effect of Keppra but every time I go on it my vision gets worse.

Anyone else have vision problems from Keppra or other medicines?
