I've been on Lamictal and then Lamotrigine for about 16 years and it works great for me. But then that is how it is with epilepsy...and with other medical problems..what works great for one person doesn't do anything for another.
I do remember when I was on Lamictal years ago if I had a dose change I would have vision problems about half an hour after taking my medicine but my vision went back to normal quickly.
Phenobarbital had really bad side effects for me and I will never take it again unless seizures got very severe. Trileptal was another bad one for me since even though my seizures stopped that medicine messed up my electrolyte levels so much that my doctor (the one I was seeing at the time) said it could cause a seizures because they were so low.
I hope you are ok.
