Are you taking Tegretol or it's generic? I've been taking it for over thirty years and my memory has almost disappeared. I do take B-12 and that helps some.
With my Tegretol and memory loss, I'm not able to process the information in conversations to contribute. People seem to talk too fast. When I hear a recording of myself, I'm surprised at how slow I talk. People tend to equate slow talk with low intelligence or poor social ability. So I'm quiet in groups of three or more and just talk to one other person at a time. My doctor finally put me on B-12 because long time use of Tegretol impairs memory and B-12 absorption
I've been referred to as "slow-poke", "quiet man' and 'dumb-shit' but I stay out of the social ladder. The social ladder isn't there for us to climb.
I wish I had hints, tips or hacks for you to socialize without interrupting but I don't. We need to climb the social latter through our actions, not our talk. Interrupting is rude and shows us in a negative sense. Use your words, facial expressions and hand gestures but most of all, use actions.
