It is a long time since I posted here.
I am adrien and now live in Devon in the uk, I am now living independently.
I have been epileptic for some years, around 45 although my epilepsy disappeared for a few years and returned in the late 80's. I was on tegretol for 30 years and have just about been weened off of it, I am on the last 100 mg and finish it on Saturday. I was also on Keppra and was taken off of that in November last year. I am now on lamotrigine and have just completed the increase to get me up to 200 mg a day. I had to stop the tegretol because I had been on it so long and they were finding that I was unable to fight infection on my own without i.v. antibiotics in hospital, it stops you creating white blood cells. Also the keppra was causing or contributing towards my oedema, my legs are not as bad now that I am off of it. All these medications are ok but they all have side effects and in my case they got worse the longer I was on it. Oh well see what happens over the next few years.

Subject: [epilepsy] Welcome and update request on all of you
Welcome to all new members. Stop in and tell us about yourself. My seizures are controlled but I am sensitive to lights. Things like lightening and sirens on TV cause headaches. I don't know if this is from epilepsy or not. I take generic Keppra and Lamtrogine for seizures and also medicine for nerve pain. I have been on the Keppra for a few years and on the Lamtrogine for about 18 years. Would be in severe trouble without them.
I try to come anytime there is a new message but I'll warn you I have a lot of problems with Yahoo. Hope the rest of you don't and people will come to this group. We're here for each other so hope we win and Yahoo problems don't.
