RE: [fast5] Re:New to fast 5 (fasting & working out)

Excellent information!  Thanks for posting this!  I will be checking out the book and the websites!!!

I am not ‘Fast5’ing currently (having a bit of a food struggle at the moment) but I am doing my early morning (6am) workouts fasted; that is both lifting weights and cardio.

Now this morning, I did have a quick ‘whoosh’ moment when I thought I might black out (my last ‘meal’ is before 8pm).  Once that moment passed, tho, I was fine (I do lift ‘heavy’, too.  For a ‘grrrl’, I did lock-outs at 85# for reps.).

I have been experimenting with what to break my (little) fast (just about 12 hrs) this week.  Today was my protein shake (1.5 scoops) and oatmeal and it held me over almost 3.5 hrs.

I don't recommend doing hours on the treadmill in a fasted state.  But if you go in fasted, lift weights for 30 minutes or so, then do another 20-30 of your favorite cardio, you'll have plenty of energy.  At that point after you work out you should eat a piece fruit and maybe a small amount of whey protein or a hard boiled egg.  At any rate it's all in the Hofmekler book.  God's speed...
