KIm,
I have always told my employers or anybody who I am going to be with
that I have EP. But then I didn't start working until I was over 40.
Mainly -- so if I would have a sz-- they would know what to do.
About school -- think about if he would have a sz when he is
working with the saw-- what would happen? Does he have grand mal
szs? And if he was working with hot grease -- what would happen? I
think he would have to choose the things he is doing -- like not
work with anything that would harm him if he has a sz.
Have you talked to the school? Are they worried that he would
get hurt and they would be held be responsible?
This probably was a wake up call for him to be sure to take his meds.
I have heard of one person who was fired after he had a sz because
he did NOT tell them he had EP. And they didn't know what to do.
They felt he was not truthful when he was hired.
But every place of of employment is different. Is there a stigma
about EP where you live? Maybe it is time to educate people about
EP -- and who better to do it than we who have it? Or parents who
have a child that has EP.
