Re: [epilepsy] Re: switching from brand to generic

Hi Doris I will call the dr. in themorning to find out what's going on,. I am on lamictal also  the brand name not generic.  the state pays for my meds except a co-pay so that's probably why they want me on generic. I was sopose to go on keppra xrtin Dec. but the pharmacy would not approve it. so I said if the state won;t pay for it I do not want it. so never got it  now they are saying I have to to have generic I just feel like saying keep your generic .  and just stick with the1 drug.?

Hi Annette,
I would check another pharmacy in your state. I do not know
what state you are in that you say does not have the real Keppra.
That should be your choice, not the pharmacy or the state. I do
not take the Keppra, but I do take Lamictal and I am on the real
type, not the genetic. When I asked doctor his opinion, he
advised that the genetic does not work as well with many who have
tried it. Persue looking into this. Good luck.
Doris

dr. took my blood levals to see if there was a change since I started
the Keppra  I have had seizures so I called the dr, and the Pharmacy
still denied my order of the real Keppra  so it looks like I will be
on Generic Keppra  I was just wondering if any of you had the same
problems  cuz my state won't  give me the real Keppra.  some of my
friends say oh, it's the same it's just that it's generic .   I told
them that it is different with seizure drugs  but they disagree

generic a few months ago and I tried to take it for awhile, but I
always flet the auras and so I had to talk to my family doctor and he
had to get the brand name Keppra back for me. I had to call the
pharmacy I go to the other day a couple of days before to get it
preauthorized again.I am glad you didn't have no problems keeping it.
I don't like the generics, but sometimes you have to take them when
medicaid won't pay for them.Take care.

I was surprised that it was that easy. It didn't even have to go
through my doctor. Take care.
