Re: [epilepsy] SS Disability

SSI varies month to month (compared to SSDI). They take into account whether you are living with someone else, who's paying your bills, etc... Then, they also see if you're working. So the payments are based on your past month's wages. It's a lot more complex than people think. There's a base amount from the federal government, then each state can kick in some extra $$. Once you turn 65, the amount goes up.

I don't know how they decide how much to pay you, but when I 1st got mine
approved I did not get the full amount. I did not have any bills or own
anything. My check was cut down about $150 a month. About six months later
when I got a phone and other things in my name, they raised the check to
full amount.I had no permanent place of resident at the time I got approved,
but I was getting my life straightened out some after I did. So it has
something to do with how much you owe every month.
