Re: [epilepsy] Switch to Depakote?

Hi Pat,
My daughter is 9 years old and has been on Depakote for almost 2 years. I
also was hesitant to start her on Depakote because of all of the side
effects, but it has really helped her to get better control of her seizures.
She is also on a small dose of Keppra with it. In the beginning they did
blood tests just about monthly to check on the liver and see how things were
going. Now, they do it about every 3-6 months. We've not had any problems,
thank goodness. She has gained some weight, but she is one who never want
s to eat and has no appetite, so the weight gain in her has been a welcomed
one.
Good luck with what you decide,
Kim
