Re: [epilepsy] Keppra versus Keppra XR

Hi,

I am still taking the original name brand Keppra. They tried to put me on the generic, but I refused to change to the generic. Whenever the patent is about to run out on a drug, it seems as though a new and improved med comes out. I would discuss your change in seizure activity with your neuro. Take care.

My neuro gave me a prescription for the XR after being on regular Keppra for several weeks, bumping the dosage every week. Man was I shocked when I saw the cost. Almost $600 for one month supply taking 2000 mg a day. Have any of you found that the XR is worth the huge price tag versus being able to use generic regular Keppra? I've only been on it a few days, but actually have had 2 seizures a day which is an increase for me. Corkie
