You're right Uggie. Over time, seizures can and do cause damage. Usually, the affected area is able to transfer control to another area of the brain. For example, 20+ years of left temporal lobe seizures cause sclerosis (scar tissue) in my left temporal lobe. Gradually, my speech, language, and memory transferred to my right temporal lobe.

I disagree with what others are saying. My 17 yr old daughter has problems
associated with Epilepsy - NOT her Meds. She has increased memory loss,
loss of fine motor skills, muscle tone and coordination. All these are a
result of seizures in her left temporal lobe - which is where all her damage
is IT is takin over the area that controls these items. Understand what I
mean??

Is it common to see a decline in abilities from seizures? My son is
diagnosed since September, and we have seen a decline in his ability both
with gross and fine motor coordination as well as a decrease in his overall
endurance.
Thanks.
Jennifer
