((((((((Gina) )))))))).

One of my life's missions because of my own epi and being a mom is to help others around me understand what it's like to have szs in order to dispel fears about them. I will say that I have never had status GMs (although I have had GMs since infancy), only a status simple partial once, years ago, but I can certainly understand your fears.

I am apparently your age, too, from your ID. :) Just had my 43rd b-day on Tuesday.

Please feel free to write me anytime about anything.

(((((((((((HUGS) ))))))))) ), and God bless,

LIZ :)

Hello I am new to the group.I am a mother to 6 boys.My 17 year old and 6
year old have epilepsy. My 17 year old had grand mals (been seizure free for
8 years off meds) and my 6 year old has complex partial's which on occasion
has turned into the grands.

My 6 year old son was put into PICU at our local Children's hospital on
Friday because he was having electrical status epilepticus during sleep.
They, on purpose, over-dosed him with Diastat (30 ML) in hopes to stop the
activity. He had to be closely monitored because of this obviously. The
activity stopped thank goodness . He has been put on valium (5mg 3x day) for
a month along with his Depakote(4 125 MG 2x day). They'll repeat the EEG in
a couple of weeks. If the seizure activity isn't gone then they will send us
to Michigan where they have a special brain scanning machine (can't remember
the name of it)...then possible brain surgery.Super worried here!!!! He is
doing quite well at the moment though. Has anyone else been through this
type of treatment or had a similar problem?

It breaks my heart to see my child seize. Every time he has a seizure I
think he is going to die. I panic to the extreme. Tell me I am not alone in
these feelings? I wish I could cope better but the mother in me comes out
and takes over the calm.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this group.I look forward to getting
to know everyone.

Gina
