[epilepsy] Understanding the Root Cause of Osteoporosis

This link explains well the origins of osteoporosis, arthritis and its
underlying cause. Whether drugs aide in the acidification process of our
body's I do not know but I would imagine so. I share this because this
"water" which I too thought was nonsense at first, but being desperate to
help our daughter we tried it. It has brought about a 40 -50 % drop in
Gianna's seizures in the last 3-4 months, my acid reflux went away rapidly,
likely due to the high alkalinity, and my arthritis is all but gone now.

There is a phenomenal free online E- Book available by email that explains
this process in plain English very well at www.TheKangenWaterSecret.com

If anyone wants more info or to try it free please email me at my personal
email with your city and state.

Hi Lea and big welcome to the group.

I myself have been on these drugs since about the same age and in my 60s
now. Took Dilantin for a long
time..Tegretol in any form is another bad one, along with others. These
drugs seem to just love calcium for
some reason and go wherever they can find it. We can't even put enough into
our bodies without supplementing
somewhere along the way. Hopefully before the osteop. hits us. I was but
still when tested now have and have
it bad. Lots of fun I tell you.

When you think of the gums and problems there where are your teeth? What is
your teeth made up of?

Here is a site you may want to visit sometime that may answer some of your
questions....

y.org/cgi/content/full/62/11/E24
Just put a search in google for bones and dilantin and see what you come up
with - or something similar.

At this age and on the drugs for that long your brother should demand a bone
density test just to be sure. I
went thinking this would be a breeze and turn up nothing but when I saw my
skeleton on the computer screen, oh
my, I didn't even look like a human being...sure glad I have some cover up
on the outside so it doesn't show
that way. Once you have osteop. if not before that is where arthritis will
hit as the osteop. is a silent
disease until you do something to break a bone where it is affected
specially.

I was suggested that only could be given 3 different meds for ostep. Tried 2
and they clashed like crazy with
my meds, went to try another and it is still sitting here as is plain
calcium and am already on a strong
calcium/mag./and Vit D. Just double the dose of what had been taking of the
calcium. At least no side effects
there where as with the prescription ones you just don't know.
Hope this helps.
Julie
p.s tell your brother to maybe try taking even more of the vit. D and
calcium daily. Just to spread more
throughout the day and possibly with meals so it doesn't disturb the
stomach.

Hello,

I hope someone can help me. My 54 year old brother has had epilepsy since he
was 13. He has been taking
Dilantin since then, and is also taking Kepra and Lamictal with pretty good
seizure control.

We know Dilantin does cause gum problems, but until last year and seeing a
new neurologist, he told us that
Dilantin can cause osteoporosis. Well my brother had a bone density test
last year and his spine/ hip
fracture rate is mildly increased.

As a result, we tried last month to get him off Dilantin and switch to
Zonegram, but this was a bad failure.
Two weeks into coming off Dilantin, he started having one seizure after
another, went to the hospital by
ambulance, it took him about 3 days to fully wake up and another week to
fully recover. He is back on
Dialantin, Keppra and Lamictal and relativey seizure free. His neuro said we
could try again to get him off
Dilantin and do medicne change with 5 days in the hospital, and we said no
thank you.

The neurologist suggested next we see an endocrinologist to see if something
live Boniva, Actonel or some
other type of drug might help. Has anyone else gone to an endrcrinologist
with sort of the same problem and I
am wondering which drug or what they did they suggest.

My brother does take Calcium and Vitamin D daily.

Thanh you,

Lea
