Someone suggested asking your kids what they experience when they are
having a seizure. Megan never remembers anything about the seizure
itself or the immediate couple of minutes preceding it. Do people
generally remember their seizures? Or does this have to do with what
type of seizures a person has? Obviously, she remembers her
myoclonics because she never loses consciousness.
BTW, Megan has been successfully switched to depakote and Keppra and
is doing very well. She hasn't had a seizure in over two months. Now
we are tapering down her Keppra. Since she has side effects from high
dose Keppra, we want to get that down as low as we can. I'm really
happy for her. The couple of years that her doctor switched her to
Lamictal caused her so many unnecessary problems. On that note, if
your doctor changes your meds to something that doesn't work as well,
push like hell to do what's right for your child. I now wish that I
had pushed even harder than I did. Some doctors do have their own
agenda and their own particular brand of myopia that allows them to
see what they want to see.
Take care,
