Hi Deb,
I'm about the same age as your son.... um a few years older (25). I've lived with the same kind of seizures your son has all my life and through college. I had a left temporal lobectomy last November, and I haven't had a seizure since. I just got my driver's license for the first time ever a few weeks ago. I haven't had a second surgery, but I can't say that it never will happen. If you're interested, there's a support group on yahoo called "epilepsy_surgery.

Hi everyone,
Yesterday we met with the Neurosurgeon to perform our sons second front temporal lobe surgery.
He is 21, diagnosed with complex partial seizures 11 years ago. After living with up to 18 seizures a day, he had his first brain surgery 5 years ago next month. In the first year he didnt even have 10 seizures. Very slowly, despite medications of every combination and doseage, seizures crept back into his life.
So now as a soon to be college senior, he has had enough. He said, "Mom, I am done with epilepsy." So now we are on this path to do it again.
Please, if you have experiance and information to share about going through brain surgery a second time, I'd be so appreciated to receive it. Thank you in advance,
Deb
