It just depends on who and what the situation is. Take for instance a service dog that is in a class full of autistic children, or a class full of epileptic kids. If the dog does sense that it would calm the children for them to pet then then the dog will act on it!
Part of this comes from me being a trainer for pediatrics only. Things come and go and I was just saying what I have seen etc.

It's just that I have never allowed anyone to pet my dogs on harness.
