Re: [epilepsy] Re: Suicide

Hi Stephen,
Welcome to the group.  We're an understanding bunch of people, so feel free to ask questions and/or vent.  We're all in the same boat.

Just a little about me:  I'm 25 years old (fm).  I'm a paraprofessional at a nearby elementary school with special education.  I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy when I was 9; no known reason.  I have partial, complex partial, and tonic clonic seizures (usually in clusters).  I recently (11-12-08) had a left temporal lobectomy, and I've been seizure-free since.  Since the surgery, I got my driver's license, and this past Thursday, I got my first car.  I'm still on extreme AED dosages (Keppra 3000mg and Tegretol 700mg daily).

Again.... Welcome Stephen!

Tristin :)

HI Everybody

My name is Stephen.  I am 58 years old.   I had an illness called encephilitis, when I was only 3 years old and it left me with epilepsy.  The tablets I take are Limictal Lamotrigine 100mg + 50mg 3 times a day and 25mg once a day + Keppra 1000mg + 500mg twice a day + Clonazepam 5 a day 2 in a morning 2 at 5pm and 1 at night.  I have both Granmals and petit mals which the name has been more updated now and are called absences.  I do not know which I am going to have next.  I sometime go 1 or 2 days without having either.  But when I start with them again it certainly makes up for the days I have missed.

                                                     Stephen

There is a saying that I like for something like this........ ......... ......My 6.5 year old epileptic daughter likes it too. Theres nothing normal about her health issues with epilepsy and we got into a fight with the school nurse over that one. LOL! Im still going to win that fight too!

This is the saying :
What is this Normal everyone is talking about? Is it contagious omg dont touch me I might get your normal! AAAAHHHH!

Just something to put a smile on your face I would hope!
Hang in there its hard yes, but take your epilepsy and make something of it. Go tell the world that you have it and your living your life.
Elizabeth

I've had similar thoughts over suicide.
All my life, people have told me to stay out of the way.
I was removed from school and put with others with disabilities.

It's like I can't be around normal people.
People with disabilities were my only friends.
When I found a girlfriend who also had epilepsy,
I was told two wrongs don't make a right, and got banned from seeing her.

It's like... Any sign of being normal is not allowed.
So why am I here?

Matthew
