Re: [epilepsy] re: Memory Questions

Pictures, take a lot of pictures and keep them in a format that they are easily found and in an order.

As a result of my memory problems, I make sure I have a camera to capture everything I enjoy and also need for a reference.  I can't take too many.  The naming of each is broken into the following, year, month and a two alpha character,  2009 07 aa, 2009 07 ab. I can take over 676 photos each month with this configuration and the breakdown by month works well for me.  I can't tell you  how many times I use them to refer or help remember things.  I still  miss some things but I am reminded of many others that helps my memory come back with details.

A good question yet one we all have to deal with and some days hate. I have had epilepsy (GM) every since

teen and now a g'grandma. During my worst years of it I had my 5 little children...no problems at all and

wouldn't even think I had epilepsy during pregnancy, BUT now do you think I can recall giving birth to any of

them. The last one (28yr now) only think I can remember about Vance is he was very stubborn and had to be

sent to the city to have him as Dr's here were afraid of complications.

I can not remember very little of my childhood days, and end up telling myself or other person 'did it happen

that way, or was it some dream I had'. Eg. I love horses..have this vision (will call it) that my dad bought

me one for my birthday as we lived on ranch. Did he or didn't he or was it just because he said something

about it maybe or not I will never know. Bits and pieces like that are completely gone in my long term

memory, but my short has come back.

It depends on where the epilepsy stems from also. Should the 'hippocampus' area (section that process infor

and memory be affected in any way it will definitely be. Just thankful my short term is back although there

are days when do have to stop and think for min. to recall a simple word.

Just my 2 cents worth here - my neuro told me once that with every seizure had during my lifetime took away

chips from those memory cells of mine.
