Deb...
Do talk with the doctor first. Ativan is a very strong med. and can be habit-forming. Read up on it and yes talk with dr. first. Cause there are many other meds. that can be used for stress that do not have the side effects of ativan.
I use it only for seizures and clusters of aura's.
I wish the best.
Have a great night & weekend.
Ashley

Hey Tammy,
Ativan is a "strong" medication. I used it to stop seizure clusters. Up until 8 months ago, I would have a cluster of seizures once a month. In a regular cluster, I would have one seizure about every two hours for 2-5 days. When I started having seizures, I would take only 1mg of Ativan, and the seizures would stop (until the next cluster striked). I would also be out-of-it for about 24 hours; not due to seizures... due to Ativan side-effects (sleepiness, dizziness, fatigue, blurred vision, and lethargy).

HI Deb,
I was interested in your used of Ativan. Megan has had some seizures
on days that are really exciting (good stress, I suppose) like on her
sister's wedding day about a half hour before the wedding, in the
middle of a dress rehearsal for a play she was in, etc. Does the
Ativan make you sleepy or have any other side effects? Does it
actually calm the brain? I think I may ask Megan's doctor if it would
be a good idea for her to take this when she is having something
stressful or exciting happening in her life.
Thanks for any answers you can give me.
Tammy
