Hey Tim,
We both are still very young and close in age, I'm just 51 now! I got my license maybe in '74, was out of high school in '75 and my seizures began the coming fall. Didn't drive for 1 1/2 years after that. I was very ignorant about epilepsy most of those years simply because I didn't understand it and didn't realize how in so many ways it affected my life. I thought I was a total failure in life! In the 80s drove but didn't realize even that I shouldn't have been. In '88 stopped driving for 20 years. Had surgery and so far I'm still seizure free. Who knows if they will come back or not? But for now, so far so good! I'm still on my meds 100% as compared to before surgery, that's my choice! Back thenin '75 & '88, once I was told to stop driving, I did!!! Take care, keep a smile on your face!

(there were many that I was unaware of). My neurologist never reported me to DMV, and my license was never taken away, but I was lucky in that whenever I crashed and totaled a car of mine, there was never another driver to sue me. If this occurred and the police officer had determined that the accident was due to my having a seizure, the other peoples attorney might then find out that I've been having them for many years, He could decide that I shouldn't have been driving in the first place, and may tell DMV of this. Then my insurance provider would drop their coverage because I'd been using their service illegally. After that I'd still be sued personally, I quit driving in '98.

The more down you feel, the more you can come to all your friends here who always care about each other. You are apart of this group, we care so much about each other. That's why you mean allot to all of us here! Mark, so many people in this group can't drive just like you. So many people in this group keep a count on how many days since our last seizure. Then, so many of us have to start our count over because a seizure coming out of no place! Its so so fustrating, thats when we need each other the most. This is the place to talk with, vent out to us who are your friends. One thing you are very lucky to have, that my friend is having so many people here who care so much about you (smile)! In allot of ways so many of us feel alone, BUT, in all reality we have friends here who care about each other. You are a part of

I was feeling very depressed last week, but had the wherewithall to dial 911 before trying anything. I just took a deep breath and sat in my recliner until the ambulance came. I'm not sure I'll be able to wait if (when) I get the feeling of trying to kill myself again.
