Some of the things people have found that help:
1. Lemon juice in water
2. Eating more protein, less carbs
3. Eating more high-fiber foods
Fruit isn't a great choice because it does tend to have a "rebound
effect" and create more hunger, though some fruits are worse this way
than others. Green apples seem to work pretty good (I used to eat them
a lot in the past on diets). And yeah, like other people have said,
it's not part of the "core principles", so should be avoided. But as
Dr. Bert says too, the diet is a starting point and everyone varies.
We are all still discovering "what works". For most people it seems
"what works" is a 1-5 hour eating window (some people feel they do
better eating in a shorter window) and nothing else with calories
in-between.
But also, it takes some time to adjust to that ... the hunger does go
away eventually, but there is an interim period to get through. And
some people have had to make other adjustments (like eating more
protein or fat in their eating window).
Something low-sugar and high-fiber is better, like celery sticks, if
you really NEED something in your stomach (or if, say, you need to
take a pill). Something like metamucil, which is all fiber and few if
any calories, can fit the bill too.
