Re: [epilepsy] Strong seizure....Weak seizure what's the difference

If the seizures are unnoticable, they are probably absense or partial seizures. Tonic clonic seizures are extremely noticable.

Hey guys,

My daughter Julia used to have strong noticeable seizures but,
lately I can hardly tell she is having them I am sure I have missed
several. Is there a difference in what is going on in the brain
between a strong seizure that everyone can see and one that no one
notices. I felt really bad today b/c Julia's seizure lasted way
longer than 30 minutes and I had to use diastat to stop it. The thing
started at the ice cream store (there with all three girls so, I
couldn't really run out the door), all the way home and I gave it 5
more minutes to stop once we got in the house. The strange thing was
that Julia was very interactive between her seizures (she has
series...crunch relax crunch relax). Julia even rolled onto her tummy
and was playing on the floor! Julia is an 18 month old but
developmentally she's a 5 - 6 month old.

I know we have changed two things regarding Julia's medication.
We went from generic Lamictal to trade and Julia started swallowing
her pills whole so we no longer needed to open her zonagram pills and
poor the contents on top of a spoon of food.
