When I was on Dilantin, I took it twice a day with total dose of 1200 Mg per day. One of the reasons I had to get off it was I was above the therapeutic level to maintain control. I switched to Tegretal 5 years ago and it eliminated the side effects with my gums. I don't recall any other side effects from the high dosage. The other thing my doctor monitored was my liver function and if that starts to be high, it can lead to many other problems. Tegretal has provided me the same coverage however I still have one or two small partials a month that last a few seconds.

yeah that is why i joined so maybe people will understand what i go through when i have issues with my seizures. Does anyone ever feel like they useless at time after seizures happen or issues with them and your family doesnt quite understand. I try to explain it but sometimes they don't get it I know people on here will understand more. Yes so many different kinds of meds i have found but mine is such a high dose. I take 1000mg Dilantin daily. DOes any take that high of a dose or similar on other meds?
