Re: [epilepsy] New Here

Zonegran was just the start of a neverending nightmare for us.  However, we had not realized Aeidan was suffering from LGS.  Laura

I wanted to ask how soon after adding the zonogram did you see a differance in your daughter. We just added it at night 100mg to my daughters 8ml of keppra three days ago.

Hello,

My daughter was diagnosed with focal epilepsy leading into generalized tonic clonic seizures. It took them 18 months to diagnose her.

She started with trileptal. Then we tried lamictal. Neither worked. So we added topamax. That controlled them for a while but she became allergic to the lamictal so we removed her from both drugs.

She is now on a combination of keppra and zonagram. The doctor has her on name brand medicine only. She is doing very well now. No grandmals for 2 years.. Now she does still have complex partials and focal seizures every once in a while.

Sometimes it takes a while to find the right medicine for your child. My daughter's now 4 1/2. It was a long hard road but we made it.

I speak with her doctor once a month to let her know how she is doing..

Just takes time and patience.

Sandy

Welcome to the group. I have complex partial seizures. I have had them since
I was a baby, which was about 40 years ago. I have taken the Keppra for
about 8 years now. I also take Neurontin with it. Your son might need
another kind of medicine added to it.My seizures are not controlled, but
they are a lot worse without the medicine.I hope the doctor finds something
that will work well to stop them, but it does take some time with the
medicine. If they don't get any better, talk to your doctor about them. Take
care.
