Subject: [epilepsy] My husband

Hi everyone,

I am new to the group.
Actually I want to know the exact difference between the term - EPILEPSY,
SEIZURES AND CONVULSIONS.

In the month of Feb my husband while on work suddenly went blank and was
not responding to anyone talking to him. I though he was unwell and
brought him home. As soon as we reach home he started getting convulsions
we admitted him to hospital. he was there for one and a half month. Was
having hallucinations, wet bed, not remembering people, spitting food
everywhere not able to follow instructions, needed support while walking,
etc...... Doctor said he will recover slowly slowly. The term they
mentioned were - EPILEPSY, SEIZURES AND CONVULSIONS, which are new to
me and to be honest i do not understand.

Once we brought him home slowly he started progressing and within 20 days
- mid April, he was able to do things on his own - take bath, toilet
habits, eating, walking, remembering people.
However his recovery progress has stopped here. He is in same state what
he was 3 months back. He can recognize people and talks with them. But
he is not normal . Gets confused at times - leaves taps open, wears
clothes
but not properly (collar behind etc..), keeps on repeating the same thing,
after having medicines asks for medicines, is not able to write properly
in line and forgets words in-between, He cannot be left alone and needs
someone to keep an eye on him. At times he refuses to understand and
argues and wants - to drive, go to office, etc...... which he cannot.

He is on following medicines -
LEVIPIL
TRIOPTAL
ACTIVAN
PREVA
QUITIPIN

Doctor says all these are for preventing convulsions from reoccurring. I
am worried that no medicine is given to him for his memory and to become
totally normal. I want him to be normal as he was before all this.
People say he will be alright but will take time. How long???????? ?? I
have 2 small kids and m not able to manage all the things alone at home.
It is now like having 3 small kids.

Can someone help, and guide me.
Thank you
Roshan
