I can control the seizures' effect by focusing on one person, looking them in the eye, and determining that I will control the seizure- not the other way round.

That is what my mom can do. But I wish my daughter had the neurologic concept of what is going on with her and she could tell us what is going on with her.

Yeah, at the very beginning of my seizures I can hear what's going on and whoever is talking to me, but it's extremely difficult to respond. It's easier to respond at the very beginning of the seizure, but even then all I can say is stuff like "I feel it," "I feel funny," "it's happening," etc. etc.

My husband can actually hear my voice during a seizure..he used to have me grab his hand and I ask him if he hears me to squeeze it..I have pulled him out of seven seizures this year but it was only because he has the vns devise and I used the magnet on his wrist and that stopped the seizure.

I am on this list because of my daughter Dani, age 23, has epilepsy.
Today, on day 3 of her 4 week voc rehab work experience placement, Dani had a moderate seizure with drooling and lack of attention She was out late last night baby sitting and didn't get enough sleep. That was her first bigger seizure since 10/08 on the plane to Italy.
She told the on-site voc rehab staffer she "talked herself out of it" keeping it from getting worse. She wasn't able to get back into the work assignment at the florist (Sounds like a cover story to me).
A good friend of mine has mostly night time seizures. He knows when they are coming on and tells his wife who actually talks himself out of most of them.
Anyone else have similar experiences? What works?
