Re: [epilepsy] Does anyone else take a prn

My husband SWEARS by prn Ativan. It has saved him many times. When his brain begins to really misfire, I give him a 2mg Ativan and he goes to sleep. He wakes and everything is okay after that. The neuro says the med gives his brain time to rest and reset.

Does anyone else take a prn when they feel a seizure coming on? I am lucky, I can feel them some times up to 4-5 hours before a GM seizure.

Wasn't always able to but for the last few years.I take lamictal and it seems to work great for years now but lately about the last 4 months seems that I felt not so great more and closer together. Anyway I went to a different Dr. One I met at work. And He added clonazepam 0.5 mg every 12 hours I couldn't handle it routine. I was also give a prn ativan and one day I was at work and started feeling that afraid, fearful, nervous feeling I get prior to a seizure. I took a clonazepam and Ativan and within 90 minutes I felt better. Now I take them as a prn and my Dr. knows Just because it has helped me doesn't mean it is safe for everyone check with your Dr.
