I live in southeast Missouri, and the first neurologist I saw would literally stand in the doorway and ask if I had any seizures. If mom said no, then he would say ok and walk off. He hardly ever came in the room. When we changed neurologists, the guy I went to was a lot better. He came in the room, asked a few questions, did a cursory exam (checked reflexs, peripheral vision, etc.) and worked with us on trying different meds. He referred me to an epileptologist st St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Dr. William Rosenfeld. Dr. Rosenfeld is a very good doctor and is actively involved with his patients. He sits down with me, examines me, asks questions, and talks about different options and even some small talk. I think he actually wants to know his patients, not just see them. I'm lucky. So if anyone lives in Missouri, go to him or his wife, Dr. Susan Lippmann. They share the practice.
