Re: [epilepsy] Re: RE:question about non rx options - medical marijuana Charles

I've heard of marijuana used for glaucoma but never for seizure control.  Is there any scientific evidence that support it's use for controlling sz's or effecting the chemical balance in the brain to subdue sz's?   Because of the inconsistency in the different types, is that a factor to consider and what is an acceptable dosage?    This sounds a bit bazaar and I would think like drinking alcohol, it would be a negative effect.  I could be wrong.   How does it effect other meds prescribed to us to control sz's?  Is that a dangerous combination?  I don't know if anyone knows or read anything but some references would be a place to start.  This is new to me.   Thanks one and all.

Thanks Charles for sharing this!

I use medical marijuana also. It is legal in Oregon. I make a tincture from it, but also smoke it when I feel a seizure coming on because that works the fastest. I also notice if I do it before going in the car, I am less likely to have a seizure from riding.

I hope they legalize it where you are. I also use it for pain and muscle spasms. With my allergy to drugs, I would be really in trouble without this, especially for pain relief. I can't even take tylenol, aspirin, or ibuprofen because of allergies.

Love,

jnanda

It also calms my upset stomach after I have taken my meds.I hope they legalize it sooner but, you have to convince all those people that think that its a gateway drug. It is not-- Every child is seeing alcohol and tabacco and All the presciption drugs that many of us "Have" to take. It gets their curiosity going. We need a better education about drugs so as to help keep them from using the drugs that may kill them if its not used for the purposes that are needed.
