You ask is there a reason why some epileptics just get seizures at night time?
This can occur any time during sleep, be it night or day sleep/naps. I do not know if there is a specific
reason for them happening then....it just does for some reason. One being, we need our sleep and I know my
AEDs keep me away at night when I should be sleeping and quite often see 1 or 2 am go by. Sometimes I think
part of the subconscious knows this is when it will happen and we hit a cycle of fear, figuring that if we
stay awake we won't have that seizure. This don't work very well!!
One person I worked with that had seizures were always at night towards morning and for this reason the
parents ordered that her meds be given as late as possible. She was one that would love to head to bed 7pm if
you let her this meant getting her up at 9:30 at earliest to give her meds to her. Night time relaxing,
watching a movie, or listening to music can always help as it quietens the brain before going to bed.
